Arriving a year after his
Def Jam full-length debut,
Remember My Name, Chicago-based drill rapper
Lil Durk returned with his sophomore effort,
Lil Durk 2X. The album was initially slated to be a mixtape, but it was gradually expanded into his second proper album. Featuring production by
Zaytoven,
Sonny Digital,
Young Chop, and others, the album features guest appearances by
Young Thug ("So What"),
Yo Gotti ("Money Walk"),
DeJ Loaf ("My Beyoncé," which previously appeared on the 2015 mixtape 300 Days, 300 Nights), and
Ty Dolla $ign ("She Just Wanna," the album's first official single). The album shows much more of an emotional and musical range than
Remember My Name;
Durk sounds re-energized and more optimistic than before, as he strives to create a bright future for his children.
