Still up and dancing a full decade and a half after their initial releases at the dawn of the German techno scene,
Hardfloor have been around so long that even a new release like 2005's
Four Out of Five Aliens Recommend This sounds old-school. The duo's first full-length release in nearly five years, this album follows a string of self-released 12" singles on their own label, but doesn't repeat any of those sides. (A new mix of their 1991 breakthrough, "Acperience," does end the album, however.) Instead, the album follows in the path blazed by all of the duo's previous records: vintage Roland 303 bass synths thumping and purring along in various complementary rhythms while sequencers tick-tock along underneath. For anyone who liked them before, here comes more of the same. Consistency counts, apparently. ~ Stewart Mason
