This album has more than its share of remarkable music. Pianist
Oscar Peterson takes seven performances (including a five-song
Duke Ellington medley and racehorse renditions of "Indiana" and "Sweet Georgia Brown") unaccompanied and guitarist
Joe Pass follows with five solo selections of his own. But it is when
Peterson and
Pass team together for the final six numbers that the sparks really fly, particularly on "Honeysuckle Rose" and "Blues for Bise"; the results are often quite wondrous. This is essential music from two of the best. ~ Scott Yanow
