This all-instrumental album,
A Tribute to Gershwin and Friends, is really a tribute to a less competitive and less intense era of music. The songs on this album represent popular classics in a time when music expressed a mood of simplicity over complexity. Besides
Gershwin and such classics as "Summertime" and "Our Love is Here to Stay,"
Harrison includes his renditions of music by
Billie Holiday, David Raksin and
Johnny Mercer,
Cole Porter and
Richard Rodgers.
Harrison also includes two original songs written and performed in the musical tradition of the
Gershwin era.
Harrison plays keyboards with great emotions and is joined by acoustic and fretless bass, and acoustic and electric guitar. ~ MusD
