A Euro-themed downbeat (with many Brazilian, and a few African influences, as well) compilation that focuses on the jazzier of club music. From Liquid Solution's "Rio Kafe" to Simon Soul's "La Musica,"
Rendezvous: After Dusk is one of the better releases of its sort, with music that is relaxed and electronic without being cold and distant. The beat, while never obtrusive -- lush chords are more important here -- is still present and accessible, and oftentimes, like in Outsized's "Heaven Sunset"or Rose Max's "Da Lagrima (Ferry B Miami Vibe Remix)," it can be pretty fun, too, with a nice groove. The songs work well with one another; they were chosen and mixed so that the mood created by one is never drastically altered by the entrance of another. No,
Rendezvous: After Dusk probably isn't going to win any converts to the genre, especially those who aren't fans of any sort of electronica to begin with, but for those looking for a compilation of this sort, it's a good choice. ~ Marisa Brown
