Similar in sound to other ROIR recording artists such as
Test Department and
Laibach,
Crash Worship takes minimalism and repetitive percussion to the next level on the compilation
Asesinos. Drums are the driving force behind the songs, which are a collection of studio and live recordings taped between 1987 and 1989. The band is a caravan of self-described roots-therapists (which includes a total of three drummers) who create music that is both haunting and ethereal, with pieces sounding surprisingly similar to classic
Bauhaus at times. Be prepared to be hypnotized by such standout cuts as "Catatonic Dance," "10,000 Things," "Blood-Birth," and others. And like the above-mentioned ROIR bands, the seeds of today's industrial and techno-rock can be traced to
Crash Worship's sonic experiments as well.
