Private Dawn is a CD without direction.
Peter Blake is a fine keyboardist, but he can't seem to decide whether he wants to make a jazz album or a new age album. The music just settles somewhere in the middle. It is not jazz. It is not new age. It is not fusion. It is just a set of aimless musical meanderings with nowhere to go.
Blake takes it there, too. There are several moments that sound like he is just about to rescue this disc. He does not. There are also some fine atmospheric passages that get lost among the drivel. ~ Jim Brenholts
