Prior to joining the first reincarnation of the Flying Burrito Brothers, Cajun fiddler, guitarist, and singer Gib Guilbeau made this LP with the legendary guitarist Clarence White and drummer/banjo player "Gene Parsons" (both veterans of the Byrds). Both "Louisiana Rain" and "Sweet Susanna" were covered by Nashville West, the short-lived band that the three of them were a part of until the group folded when White (and shortly thereafter Parsons) departed to join the Byrds. But these studio versions, although featuring superior sound quality in comparison to the live home-recorded versions which eventually surfaced on Nashville West's one release, suffer from over production, including a pseudo thunderstorm added to an already hackneyed arrangement of "Louisiana Rain." The rest of the LP fares little better, with far too prominent bass and rather bland performances that fail to command attention. This budget record doesn't even bother to list any of the musician's credits except for the leader's vocals, so it is just another reservation about a release that is already well on its way to deserved obscurity.
