Recent space-age pop fans of
Montenegro may have a hard time with this quickie for RCA Victor (paper-thin vinyl!), where the most anonymous of group vocals have been added to the arrangements of pop hits such as
the Beatles "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun,"
Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman," and
the Guess Who's "Undun." However,
Montenegro is consistent with his effects, and seems to love slapping a spacy echo on his flutes, rendering them into something like early Moog bleeps. The straight-laced, upbeat delivery of
Dylan's lyrics are a hoot as well. A very mild entry in
Montenegro's discography -- worth picking up only if priced accordingly (a few bucks at the most). ~ Ted Mills
