Surprisingly mild in tempo,
Frankie Bones still plays rough. But for this trip, instead of his typical pummeling velocity,
Bones decided to use the Roland TR-303 as his weapon of choice. These 15 tracks of classic acid techno by American almost-superstars
Atomic Babies,
Woody McBride, and
Bones himself all fetishize the little metal box that accompanied 1,000 warehouse parties. With little more than a smart hi-hat and sturdy kick drum to hold up the squiggly metallic tones, this is body music meant strictly for dancing. Or perhaps another less advisable recreational activity. Either way, it is raw power and raw fun, like a blast of distorted guitar updated for the circuit board generation. ~ Joshua Glazer
