Harry "The Hipster" Gibson was past his prime when he made this solo set for Progressive in 1986; in fact, his peak years were largely finished by 1948. However,
Gibson does take a few worthwhile piano solos, in addition to offering some spaced-out social commentary and remaking "Stop That Dancing Up There." Those listeners who appreciate a wacky sense of humor will probably enjoy such tunes as "Solution for Pollution," "Homegrown," "Keep Venice Nude" and "Male Chauvinistic Pig." But there were so many lost years from this colorful personality, who should have become a household name in the 1950s. ~ Scott Yanow
