Everyone Is a Ghost is a moody, electro-infused affair that retains much of former
Slowdive member
Christian Savill and
MM partner Sean Hewson's longstanding knack for atmospheric fuzzed-out guitar pop. These are catchy, melodic songs with a bit of sadness to them even at their most brightly pitched tempos. To these ends, the leadoff track, "The World Collapsed," is a pulsing, keyboard and drum machine-driven number. Switching gears, "Bored Beyond Oblivion" is a chugging slacker-rock anthem that veritably reeks of strip mall exhaust and overheated Fender amps. Similarly, "Silver Knife" is a midtempo indie electronic anthem that shoots the shoegaze moon with searing arcs of layered guitars and keyboards.
