A Cor Do Som was an excellent band that was launched in the late '60s as a support band for
Os Novos Baianos. Among their members, Armandinho, the virtuoso on Bahian guitar, mandolin, and cavaquinho, must be mentioned. This album is not representative of their best instrumental moments, such as their appearance in the Montreux Festival, when they became internationally known as an "electric choro" band. On the contrary, this compilation focuses on their non-instrumental pop hits "Beleza Pura," "Abri A Porta," "Palco," and others, but even then they excel at the instrumental accompaniment, mixing northeastern, southern, and pop influences. ~ Alvaro Neder
