Orquesta la Terrífica's third Artomax recording is one of their very best, a delightful romp of humor and swing from early 1980. Vocalists Héctor "Pichie" Pérez and
Manuel "Mannix" Martínez are at their absolute best in a completely disarming atmosphere. The title tune is something of unflinching hilarity, "Canción de los Pobres" is pure energy, and "Déjame la Puerta Abierta" is a merengue with understated cadence. "Como da Vueltas la Vida" (of
Hansel y Raúl fame) is half-parody, half-drama. "Ciegamente" is among the band's most beautiful boleros. Sadly, this was pianist/arranger Jorge Millet's final recording. He died during the final mixing stages at the age of 42. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.
