Pinkshinyultrablast took their time to follow up their phenomenal 2016 full-length, Grandfeathered, only releasing two songs in 2017, "Find Your Saint" and "In the Hanging Gardens." Both songs were stripped back and poppy compared to the full-length, which seemed to owe as much to prog rock as to dream pop. "In the Hanging Gardens" was the first of the two songs to see release in a physical format, with four versions of the tune appearing on a 10" EP in early 2018. The extended version appears first, and it's lovely and somewhat skittering, with airy synths, guitars, and vocals as well as a subtly tricky drum machine rhythm. Nothing gets as overdriven or aggressive as Grandfeathered; instead, it's more of a pleasant stroll. Of the remixes, Gnoomes seem to have a lot of fun screwing around with tape effects, outright mangling the track at a few points, and otherwise finding equal use for the propulsive drum track and flickering guitar loops. Ice Choir make the song into more of a chunky, Madchester-esque dance track, while Tears Run Rings seem more introverted at first, eventually blooming with a splash of bright guitars during the second half.
