The Melvins' love for
Kiss goes far beyond most fans, for these set of three EP's each member of the band recorded a record of their own and released it exactly as
Kiss did in 1978, right down to the parodies of the artwork. For "no commercial potential" check out Joe Preston, the newest member of the Melvins. His former band
Earth (not the group that became
Black Sabbath) experimented with excrutiating slow speeds, and for his solo outing he takes those tempos and dares to test the endurance level of those who purchase. His "The Eagle Has Landed" features an annoying two year old brat screaming over elevator music, and for those who enjoy listening to one guitar chord altered and stretched over a non-existent beat for 20 minutes there's "Bricklebrit." Separately all of them stand out as highly original, but they should be purchased as a set. ~ John Book
