In 1981, cellist Julian Lloyd Webber recorded an album dedicated to the music of his older brother Andrew, composer of blockbuster musicals such as PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, CATS, and EVITA. This release revisits and updates that effort with material from more recent shows such as THE BEAUTIFUL GAME, WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND, and SUNSET BOULEVARD added to Julian's interpretations of Lloyd Webber favorites from the earlier album. The latter includes "Music of the Night," "Memory," and "Don't Cry For Me Argentina," along with well-known selections from JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, STARLIGHT EXPRESS, and ASPECTS OF LOVE. Two of Andrew's non-theatrical works are also featured: "Pie Jesu" from the Requiem, and the Variations 1-4, written especially for Julian and also notable here for the keyboard contributions of Rod Argent. David Cullen's arrangements are suitably lush, grand, and atmospheric. Along with the majestic accompaniment of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, they provide the ideal background for Lloyd Webber's heartfelt renderings of these familiar melodies.
