Now a firmly established film composer in his own right with a list of blockbusters to his credit (
Star Trek: Into Darkness, Mission Impossible III,
The Incredibles),
Michael Giacchino has taken over the Jurassic Park franchise from iconic Hollywood maestro John Williams. His score for 2015's
Jurassic World incorporates elements of
Williams' original 1993 theme while developing a whole new set of unique musical cues that will introduce the rebooted dinosaur theme park to a new generation.
Giacchino's bold arrangements are largely in keeping with the sweeping romantic tone of the original trilogy, though the percussive build of his new theme, as heard on "As the Jurassic World Turns," has its own modern flair. The bridge from old and new has been built with a deft hand as
Giacchino unleashes his own special gifts on a film that offers plenty of opportunities to wow. This is adventure film music at its best. ~ Timothy Monger
