Less than a year after the release of his fourth set,
They Got Amnesia,
French Montana issued a collaborative album with producer
Harry Fraud titled
Montega. Beat- and lyric-centric, the LP finds
Montana in a more focused state, with relatively fewer guests than usual and a cohesive sound courtesy of
Fraud. The popping "Keep It Real" with
EST Gee, the nostalgic sample-heavy "Kind of Girl" with
Rick Ross, and the stomping anthem "Bricks & Bags" with
Jadakiss and
Benny the Butcher are highlights. For fans of old-school hip-hop,
Montega is a nice diversion from
Montana's usual mainstream-leaning fare. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
