Originally released in 1981,
Offene Türen was the eighth solo album by
Hans-Joachim Roedelius, following two other solo volumes that had arrived in the earlier months of the same year.
Roedelius had already proven to be a pivotal force in establishing the Krautrock movement through his work in
Harmonia,
Cluster, and various other collaborations. The 12 tracks on
Offene Türen offer up angular explorations of vintage synthesizer waveforms, bluntly brutish drumming, and at times theatrical faux-classical compositions, as on the cracklingly electric "Zeremoniell." ~ Fred Thomas
