The title
Playlist does not suggest that this 14-track collection is a greatest-hits album, so the absence of his career-making number one "Killin' Time" isn't necessarily a deal-breaker even if it is sorely missed. It isn't the only number one single missing in action on
Playlist either, but
Clint Black had a long string of them in the '90s, so it'd be hard to fit them all in a collection this tight. "Killin' Time" is the biggest MIA hit here but the nine chart hits on this collection -- "Walkin' Away," "Where Are You Now," "We Tell Ourselves," "When My Ship Comes In," "A Bad Goodbye," "A Good Run of Bad Luck," "One Emotion," "Something That We Do," "Been There" -- along with the album tracks do make for highly enjoyable listening and a representative, if not necessarily thorough, overview of
Black's hitmaking prime.
