Tender album by the interpreter
Renato Braz. In acoustic renditions where
Braz sings and plays the violão (acoustic guitar) and percussion, joined by excellent musicians like
Banda Mantiqueira's Nailor Azevedo (Proveta), the first impact is the quality of the chosen repertoire. The album begins longing and meditative with Dori Caymmi's "Porto" and "Anabela" (Paulo César Pinheiro/Mário Gil); also on the album is the great classic "Onde Está Você" (Oscar Castro Neves/Luvercy Fiorini). The samba "Meu Drama" (Silas de Oliveira/Joaquim Ilarindo) has a more animated pace, confirmed in the exciting baião groove of "Cantiga Do Sapo," another classic, this one by
Jackson do Pandeiro (with Buco do Pandeiro). Contemporary sounds/composers are represented by Chico César's mysterious "Pagã,"
Zeca Baleiro's "Bambayuque" in a beautiful arrangement with cello and mandolin, and in the modern "7x7" (Guinga/
Aldir Blanc). Great album demonstrating an artist in full communion with his audience through his love for music. ~ Alvaro Neder
