Germany's Buffalo Bop imprint has been issuing collections of rare and obscure rockabilly, hillbilly boogie, and early rock & roll 45s from the 1950s for awhile now, and it's astounding that there seems to be an endless supply of these vintage gems. This latest set, like the label's earlier releases in the same genre, features more rarities, each transferred from the original 45 and remastered with care, so the sound is top-notch, making this compilation, like the others from Buffalo Bop, a delight for scholars and collectors. Sides like Riley Walker's "Uranium Miner's Boogie," Buddy Phillips' "River Boat Blues," and Kenny Brown's "Throw a Little Wood on the Fire," to name just three of the treats here, are full of so much unhinged joy and fun that even the casual listener will find a lot to enjoy and marvel at in these 28 tracks.
