East London-based quartet Big Deal managed to record their third effort,
Say Yes, in only ten days, having begun a second time from scratch following the theft of a laptop containing all their demos and sketches. This release sees the band parting ways with the Mute label in favor of the Brighton-based Fat Cat imprint. The core membership of the band is based around the Anglo-American duo of Alice Costelloe and Kacey Underwood, from London and L.A., respectively. The album deals with the pain of a breakup, but not in the usual sense of wallowing in depression; instead, the songs deal with heartbreak head-on, with a defiant energy. ~ Simon Spreyer
