Scott and Christine are no longer working with
Charlie Peacock, and with producer Brown Bannister they attempt a harder, almost grungy sound. This does not work with Christine's light vocals and Scott's intricate acoustic work, coming across as forced and out of character (with the exception of the catchy "Not a Chance"). Halfway through the album they appear to abandon the exercise, closing with several songs that are stylistically more like their previous work; even these, however, are not as inspired or memorable as before. It is encouraging to hear them taking chances and breaking out of their mold, but this time it did not work.~ Marc Castellani
