Japan's P-Vine Records has done what no company in the States ever did: compile and release an album by
the Five Du-Tones. It's a curious assembly, though. The group cut eight singles for Chicago's Onederful Records, but this collection omits four: their debut, "Come Back Baby," "Monkey See, Monkey Do," "The Cool Bird," and "Mountain of Love." The collection does include the original "Shake a Tail Feather," which didn't chart as high as its remakes but was their biggest record. The Du-Tones were exciting live, and just as energetic in the studio. "Divorce Court" is a rollicking R&B number that hits like a dumpster of bricks. The non-charting singles "The Woodbine Twine," "That's How I Love You," and "Let Me Love You" are other standouts. "Don't Let Go," "The Flea," "My World," and "Soul" never appeared on singles, raising the possibility of other unreleased
Five Du-Tones tracks lying around somewhere.
