The subtitle of STILL KEEPING IT REAL is "The Last Man Standing." Indeed, lead singer Ira Tucker is the sole surviving member of the original Dixie Hummingbirds, but this album, produced by Tucker and his namesake son, roots the group in gospel tradition while incorporating some new influences. Following Johnny Cash's example, the Dixie Hummingbirds transform Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" into a genuine organ-powered gospel shouter, and they also update their own early hit, "The Christian's Automobile." At heart, however, this is fine, traditional black gospel.
