The Music of DC Comics: 75th Anniversary Collection features 31 tracks culled from 75 years' worth of superheroes in television and film. The DC universe is vast, and one can forgive many of the omissions here, which is why listeners and hardcore DC fanatics need to think of this compilation as more of a snapshot than a proper overview. While copyrights and publishing woes may have kept some themes indeterminately elusive, there are enough classics here like
Neil Hefti’s iconic "Batman TV Series Theme,"
John Williams’ glorious “Theme from Superman,” and the pure, white-boy disco funk of
Charles Fox and
Norman Gimbel's “Wonder Woman” (“In your satin tights, fighting for your rights”) to make up for the obvious fact that it would take at least three more volumes to do these heroes the justice that they deserve.
