Aine Minogue's TWILIGHT REALM captures the heart of the Celtic experience through the gentle touch of a harp and, on certain tracks, the radiance of a female voice. All 13 pieces are serene, gentle, and rapturous. Like many of Minogue's recordings, this music is also very meditative. As the title suggests, these songs exist in the hazy interlude between day and night. This is the central metaphor of this release and, in many ways, the mystical foundation for all of Minogue's music.
On TWILIGHT REALM, Minogue is clearly channeling the supernatural. All of the compositions on this release are graceful and fluid. However, more than anything, they are highly spiritual. Throughout the album, Minogue uses her harp to create many delicate melodies, colorful glissandos, and other rich ornaments. Pieces such as "King of the Faeries" and "Enchanted Valley" sparkle with intense emotion and cosmic energy. Other works such as "The Mermaid" invoke the great folkloric tradition of the Irish people.
