The second album by
Yukmouth is just a shadow of the rapper's previous work as a solo artist and with the group
Luniz.
Yukmouth spends most of his time on
Thug Lord dissing other rappers rather than focusing on what he has to say. Tracks like "Regime Killers 2001" and "Oh Boy!" take aim at all the usual suspects: fake rappers and music execs who keep true rappers like himself down. There are a few highlights, however. "World's Most Wanted" cleverly interpolates the theme song from the soap opera The Young and the Restless and "Puffin Lah" is a steel drum-filled ode to marijuana use. Despite the occasional bright spot,
Thug Lord shows just how far
Yukmouth has fallen since his days with
Luniz. [
