David Parsons doesn't make good CDs -- they are all excellent.
Tibetan Plateau/Sounds of the Mothership is a single CD that combines his first two albums into one. This is a classic e-music package.
Parsons gets his inspiration from the tenets of Tibetan Buddhism. He infuses his music with soul and spirit to enforce the doctrines, such as "Meditation is the clarifier of a beclouded mind."
Parsons embraces those "isms" and passes them to his listeners. He weaves traditional Indian and Tibetan instruments into his electronic atmospheres. Synth washes and gentle melodies complete the soundscapes. At
Parsons' level there are very few peers. Some of them are
Steve Roach,
Robert Rich,
Constance Demby, and
Michael Stearns.
