Although released after
Nat King Cole's death in 1965, this LP (to judge from its vague liner notes) was actually recorded two years earlier.
Ike Cole was Nat's younger brother, and this was quite possibly his only recording. He plays some basic piano, sings in a style similar to Nat, and is backed by some competent but anonymous studio musicians. Some of the numbers are tunes that Nat Cole had recorded (such as "Once In Awhile," "I'm in the Mood for Love" and "Blue Moon"), but since none of Nat's big hits are here, the music was most likely not recorded with the older
Cole in mind, despite the title. A decent but somewhat forgettable effort; it is a pity that
Ike Cole was never given a chance to record an encore.
