After an enriching experience playing in the female quintet Quasi-Jazz and a duo simply called Yusa y Domingo, Cuban guitarist, bassist, and singer/songwriter
Yusa decided to go on her own and make her first solo album, which was recorded at
Pablo Milanés' studios with Spanish producer Pável Urquiza. In addition, this 15-track record features songs from a live performance at Havana's Amadeo Roldán theater. From the bolero-inflected "La Número 2" and the relaxed and intimate "Canción de Cuna Para Freya" to the freewheeling "Chiquichaca" and jazz fusion "Momentos," the talented musician delivers a sophisticated and alternative record mixing traditional rhythms and contemporary sounds. ~ Drago Bonacich
