Composer John Murphy says that director Nimrod Antal's direction to him in providing the score for the caper picture Armored was "Louder! Louder! Louder!" Murphy has responded with this electronica/heavy metal music, made on the computer and emphasizing synthesizer programming, to accompany the exploits of Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne, and others as they attempt the perfect crime and (of course) suffer complications. Murphy's main theme, heard at the outset in "Morning" and at the end in "The End," is a wistful cue, but usually in this music, thick, guitar-like chords and thumping percussion underlay metallic melodies also played on synth guitars and other synths. This is music that could have been produced for a video game or have served as the basic tracks for an album by, say,
Nickelback, and while Murphy does back off here and there for the moments when the movie stops for breath, for the most part the pace is relentless.
