Street punk is still alive and well, if this release on Squigtone Records is any indication. This split features
the Hudson Falcons at their rip-roaring best, with the King Sized Braces holding up the Canadian end of the Oi!/punked-up rock & roll. The six tracks offered by
the Hudson Falcons contain their standard high-energy punk delivered with an intense fury and a left-wing slant (although the lyrics of "Responsibility" tilt a bit toward the other end of the spectrum). The songwriting has improved a bit as well, as evidenced by "Working Woman." Included on the Falcons' side is a blistering cover of "Alternative Ulster," giving a bit more of a hint about where they're coming from. The King Sized Braces keep up with the Falcons, giving you five tracks of vivacious rock & roll. While the pro-worker stance of the Falcons' isn't quite as strong, the Braces opt for tracks about solidarity, the odd bit of political nihilism in "Skinhead Rock & Roll," and even a
Merle Haggard cover. Due to the fine recording and great meshing of two different groups, Attack stands as a good addition to the catalogs of both bands. ~ Jeremy Salmon
