Tenor saxophonist
Rickey Woodard's first CD as a leader is a swinging quartet set with pianist Dwight Dickerson, bassist Tony Dumas and drummer Harold Mason.
Woodard, who plays alto on three of the ten selections, is heard at his best on such numbers as
Hank Mobley's "This I Dig Of You," "Jeannine" and Oscar Brashear's "Sashay." Uncomplicated bebop as played by an appealing, warm-toned soloist. ~ Scott Yanow
