Well, it has a great cover: surrealistic and nostalgic for the golden age of vinyl, a cover that makes you anticipate, a cover where you feel like you're in for a treat on the level of
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. Alas,
Cristian Castro instead continues to plod through the sort of formulaic ballads that have been the bedrock of his success, and who can blame him? There are some clever lyrics here and there, but they are buried under mountains of musical clichés. The only respite is the uptempo "No Me Digas," which might not actually be that good, but which stands out simply because it is somewhat uptempo, and
Castro proves he can rock out. Well, sort of. At least it's not nearly as embarrassing as a
Mijares rock track. ~ J. Chandler
