The follow-up to the Canadian collective's debut album, A Warrior's Journey,
Enchanted basically offers more of the ethnic fusion same. More reflective than the beat-driven A Warrior's Journey,
Enchanted leans a bit more toward the atmospheric ambient pop side of the equation. After the lovely solo flute opening of "Water Maiden," the eight tracks flow seamlessly, emphasizing Native American woodwind and reed instruments over the vocal focus of A Warrior's Journey. Ironically, where the debut was rich with sonic detail and melodic invention,
Enchanted sounds much more like the kind of faceless, Muzak-like end of new age music that detractors of the style think of as the norm. Relentlessly pretty but not particularly interesting,
Enchanted is a bit of a disappointment. ~ Stewart Mason
