While the Rankins have always been well-received by the country music fans in Canada,
Endless Seasons is an album that's actually more focused to that crowd. This time out, the album was recorded in Nashville with country music bigwig
John Jennings and a number of musical guests (including
Mary Chapin Carpenter and
Sam Bush). Despite that, the album is painfully short on the things that endeared the group to listeners in the first place. The group's energy seems to have been sanded off in production, and while the album sounds gorgeous, it's really not a lot of fun apart from the upbeat "You Feel the Same Way Too," and even that is a bit staid in comparison to some of the group's previous output.
