Fogo Na Kanjica is another quality release from
Kuenda, an Angolan icon and superstar. He writes all of the songs on this album. It is predominately an acoustic album with plenty of thumping percussion and razor-sharp horn riffs. There's ample up-tempo semba here as well as other slower sensual rhythms that can satisfy dancers' feet and hips.
Kuenda has an extremely raspy hoarse voice that one never seems to tire of hearing. It is because he's singing straight from the soul of the world. Power tracks include the title cut, "Sacudidos," and "A Maka." The semba groove is put out here with style and intensity. Although short at less than 28 minutes, the album is well worth seeking out. Recommended.
