Throughout this routine R&B-oriented jazz date,
Wilton Felder comes across as a second-rate
Grover Washington, Jr., playing predictable solos over a variety of unimaginative, funky vamps in a tired style very similar to his previous albums.
Felder has a nice sound (particularly on tenor), but he should stick to being a hired sideman, or at least come up with some original ideas. At best, this is a pleasant dance date.
