Why CMG can't just come clean and tell the consumer that this is a live record is beyond reason. Anybody who is seeking to purchase a
Greg Kihn record doesn't care what it is anyway: If he's on it, they'll purchase it. This kind of deception is common, but in this case it's utterly unnecessary. This set is a latter-day recorded gig (though it doesn't say when) and features the
Kihn band ripping through his near-hits, his misses, and a slew of great covers. The performance is inspired, it's tight, and it rocks. The cover of the
Only Ones' "Another Girl, Another Planet," that opens the set is especially great, as is the reading of
Love's "Little Red Book." ~ Thom Jurek
