Absent from the national scene since 1985,
Kathy Sledge assembles an impressive lineup of producers and session musicians. However, the result is not as fruitful as expected. The album featured the singles "Take Me Back to Love Again" and "All of My Love," respectively peaking at #24 and #57 on the Billboard R&B charts. The former has a progressive rhythm with flashbacks of disco, and the latter is a comforting ballad.
Kathy Sledge's coarse, yet agile vocals remain as inviting as they did when she sang with her sisters. While there is no knockout song, all selections have good production. ~ Craig Lytle
