The debut by pianist
Carol Britto is a set of duets with bassist
Michael Moore. The music is gentle yet sometimes hard-swinging and
Britto stretches out on a diverse repertoire that includes "Easter Parade," a "Porgy & Bess Medley," "Pieces of Dreams," "Send in the Clowns," and
Benny Carter's playful "South Side Samba." The pianist plays so well throughout this date (which has close interaction with
Moore) that one wonders why she is not a lot better known. Excellent straight-ahead jazz. ~ Scott Yanow
