As they did on
Aquamosh,
Plastilina Mosh took a kitchen sink approach to recording
Juan Manuel: There's a bit of everything to be found here, from the disco-funk of "Boombox Baby" to the son-derived swagger of "Tiki Fiesta" to the sloppy garage rock of "Nordic Laser." So far as the record's pastiche-like form is concerned,
Beck and
Beastie Boys are their two most obvious forbears, but these guys are their own postmodernists, Latin playboys who favor a trendier, less song-oriented sort of electro-hip-hop.
Juan Manuel isn't
Plastilina Mosh's Odelay, but it shows these studio auteurs doing what they do best: pounding out très-cool sonic hodgepodge. ~ Christian Hoard
