Kompakt's most prolific producer -- with a whopping seven 12" releases (and one full-length) in the can --
Reinhard Voigt delivers his first solo release of 2003, and it's hardly a surprise for even the most casual followers. The release begins with a minute-long piece of dramatic, score-backed narration, until kicking in with the familiar forceful beats and abrasive accents that
Voigt creates in his own inimitable way. A brief track at just over four minutes, it doesn't show signs of lifting off until a few seconds before it cuts out. The B-side is far superior, with a more dynamic beat and a more varied array of effects, including a half-buried chime of a melody. The track is the best he's done in some time, on par with his recent tag-team work with
M. Mayer (on
Speicher 7) and his brother
Wolfgang (on
Speicher 5).
