Cool Friction,
Looking for Zim shows
Tony Cox' impressive abilities on the steel string guitar combined with stirring musical ideas. Whereas
Cool Friction was a purely instrumental effort,
Cox added the vocal support of Wendy Oldfield, a South African pop singer, and Wambali Mkandawire, a songwriter from Malawi (for whose albums
Cox had acted as a producer in the past). With these new nuances, he made sure he didn't just follow trodden paths of just replicating his old ideas, but offered new developments on a genuinely enjoyable record. ~ Frank Eisenhuth
