Produced by Chris Stringer (the Wooden Sky, Holly McNarland) and Josh Van Tassel (David Myles, Christine Bougie), alternative folk singer/songwriter Megan Bonnell's sophomore full-length, Magnolia, brings a small dose of lightness compared to her debut with the same team. The tone is still intimate and the lyrics still direct ("All that I wanted was some honesty, but you couldn't give that to me"), but Bonnell sounds more philosophical, if not willing to forget. With the singer occasionally evoking Billie Holiday on the album, a highlight is the deftly crooned piano-and-strings waltz "Family."
