Singer and songwriter
Bob Carlisle does plenty of gospel music, but listeners will notice lots of different styles stirred into the contemporary Christian tunes he has recorded on this millennium album,
Nothing but the Truth. After his big 1997 award-winning hit "Butterfly Kisses,"
Carlisle found himself in the spotlight as a crossover artist, landing new fans from the country music world. It's a place he seems comfortable in. On this album, he mixes gospel lyrics with rhythm & blues, soul, and just a tiny little touch of pop/rock. There are a number of songs on this offering that have plenty of listening appeal, including "Lay Your Hands on Me," "Love Is the Answer," "River of Peace," and "Watched by an Angel." Most of the tunes on
Nothing but the Truth were written or co-written by
Carlisle. This is an uplifting album for CCM fans to add to their collections. ~ Charlotte Dillon
