When
Queensrÿche toured in 1991 in support of
Empire, EMI released
Operation: LIVEcrime, a limited-edition set containing both a videocassette and a CD of live performances. Interestingly, nothing from
Empire is included on this hour-long CD, which instead focuses strictly (and obviously, from the title) on material from the acclaimed
Operation: Mindcrime. While EMI would have done better to release an official live album (perhaps a two-CD set?) that also contained some of the songs from
Empire, inspired live performances of such gems as "The Needle Lies," "Eyes of a Stranger," "Anarchy-X," and "Electric Requiem" are nothing to complain about. ~ Alex Henderson
